Local’s Eyes: Weekend in Busan

Unveiling Busan’s Hidden Charms: A Memorable Weekend with My Local Bestie

Immerse yourself in Busan’s treasures with a local guide and dear friend. I am one lucky woman to have this beauty in my life and give me a personal tour of her home town. Start your weekend at Haeundae Beach, where pristine shores and glistening waves invite you to relax and soak up the sun. Wander through Gamcheon Cultural Village, a vibrant labyrinth of colorful houses perched on the hills, offering breathtaking views and whimsical art installations. Indulge your taste buds at local Korean eateries, savoring mouthwatering delicacies like bibimbap, bulgogi, and crispy Korean fried chicken. Let the local flavors awaken your senses as you delve into the rich culinary heritage of this vibrant city. With a dear friend by your side, this weekend in Busan promises unforgettable memories and an authentic Korean experience.

Let’s keep it real. As a horror movie enthusiast the closest vision I had of Busan was the movie “Train to Busan”. A 2016 flick about a dad and his daughter traveling to Busan when a nightmare awaits them. Zombie outbreak in South Korea.

When I moved to South Korea, Busan was at the top of my list to venture to. Who knew I would get the private tour from my dear friend. Let alone, in her home town and even meeting her mother who is absolutely adorable. She even sent us home with a few different kinds of kimchi for my wife who LOVES all things fermented-cabbage.

It was approximately a 4.5 hour drive from Pyeongtaek, including one stop at a road side store (which Korea has the BEST pit stops while traveling) to devour some kimchi jige. After arriving to our hotel Best Louis Hamilton Hotel Haeundae
베스트 루이스 해밀턴 호텔 해운대 booked through Booking.com, I unloaded my luggage and we immediately hit the town to explore.

Dinner was at the top of the list so she took me to one of the coolest local restaurants where you take your shoes off outside the door and enter to your table. This was my first time experiencing such an authentic spot in Busan let alone fresh sashimi at 연합횟집. We ate, and ate, and ate some more. Check out my quick Tik Tok of our dinner below.
