OHHHH, dealing with fine lines & wrinkles while trying to apply makeup can be such a challenge, right? It’s like those pesky little lines just love to catch onto every crease and make themselves even more noticeable. But you know what? We’ve earned every single one of those lines, and they’re a testament to the life we’ve lived and wisdom gained.

I’ve spent years experimenting with different makeup techniques, expensive-high end products, popular drugstore makeup. I was determined to find what works best for my changing skin. One thing I’ve learned is that a good skincare routine is absolutely crucial. Moisturizing is my best friend, and I make sure to use products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid to keep my skin plump and hydrated. And let’s not forget the sunscreen – that’s my everyday armor against further sun damage.

When it comes to makeup, I’ve found that less is often more. Heavy foundations tend to settle into the lines and make them even more noticeable, so I opt for a lightweight, dewy foundation, CC cream or a tinted moisturizer. Before applying anything, I always use a daily moisturizer and primer to create a smooth canvas. Silicone-based primers work wonders for filling in those fine lines and creating a smoother surface. They even plug up those large pores staring right at you.

Concealer is a blessing and a curse. It’s great for covering up those pesky dark circles, but if not applied carefully, it can settle into creases and emphasize wrinkles. I like to use a creamy, hydrating concealer and apply it with a damp makeup sponge to gently pat it in.

Eyeshadow can be a bit tricky too. I have hooded eyes. Yup, another struggle huh? I fought myself for years to perfect the application that accentuated my eyes. I’ve noticed that matte shades work better for me than shimmery ones(however, a stunning shimmer right on the lid and inner corners of the eye is catchy), as they don’t accentuate the texture as much. Using an eyeshadow primer helps prevent creasing and keeps the color looking vibrant. You can even use a concealer to prime your eyes. Here are a few I prefer to rotate with.

And don’t even get me started on liquid eyeliner! It’s a real test of patience, especially when you’re trying to create that perfect wing. Some days it’s a success, and other days… well, let’s just say, they are not even and definitely a work in progress.

Overall, the key for me is embracing the changes while still having fun with makeup. Sure, those fine lines and wrinkles might alter the way makeup looks on my face, but they don’t define my beauty. Makeup makes me feel ALIVE, way more CONFIDENT. I’ve learned to appreciate the journey and the stories that each line tells. So, here’s to navigating makeup and aging with grace and a touch of humor!
